BESIII latest results and perspectives

A short summary on the latest BESIII results will be delivered, among the others those results related to the discovery of a new "family" of charged charmonium states.
New upgrade are foreseen in the next future for the BESIII spectrometer; in particular a Cylindrical GEM detector is nowadays been built by an international consortium including Italy, P.R.C., Germany and Sweden; the cylindrical GEM project will be described in details as well.
